Are you listening to your body?

For the past two weeks I’ve been battling a very uncomfortable sinus infection. It started as a cold and then my ears started to hurt and feel congested. I’m finally starting to feel like I’m not completely under water. That really is a weird feeling. Drinking apple cider vinegar and honey with hot water is what finally gave me some relief. Thank goodness! I guess ACV really does cure everything. But on to my point.

While I’ve been sick I noticed that my back hasn’t been bothering me. I’ve had some issues with back pain for the past few years. An important part of keeping myself free from pain is my regular workouts. If I miss too many days in the gym or if I’m sitting too much, my back aches and reminds me it’s time to get moving and working on keeping my core strong. So, it was surprising to me that as I’ve been sitting and laying down quite a lot over the past two weeks, that my back hasn’t really been bothering me. Huh! Interesting.

This started me thinking about how our bodies work and want to heal themselves. It seems like my body just knows I’ve been sick and it hasn’t needed as much movement so my back wasn’t aching. Our bodies know what they need, the problem is we don’t always listen.

The past two days my symptoms have eased a little, I’m a little less congested and don’t feel quite as bad. Interestingly, my back has started to ache when I’m sitting. I guess it’s time to start working out and get moving again. Do you notice when your body is telling you what it needs? Do you listen?
